Thank you for taking the time to know a little more about the Original ThReAdTeDs®.

My name is Berta Hesen-Minten, the Artist behind ThReAdTeDs®. Needlecraft has always been my passion, and it has always amazed me to see the wonderful things that could be made from thread or wool. I made sewn bears before I began designing and creating thread bears. In 2000 I jumped into my eBay adventure, difficult at first, but after a time, thread bears became very populair for the bear collector, as they remain today.

I enjoyed designing my own bears from the very beginning and have grown to love it!  As my bears have grown and changed, my patterns and designs have grown and changed as well. With offering my ThReAdTeDs® patterns and kits, and my book ThReAdTeDs® Secrets & Patterns©, the very first pattern book in the category of crocheted, jointed, miniature bears, I hope to help many people discover this art.  Maybe you will find as much enjoyment in bringing these little creatures to life as I do. The book is continue available.

As all my bears proudly wear the name, ThReAdTeDs®, my sewn bears come with someting in thread added to them like a thread collar, thread bag, thread clothes or even a thread friend.

I also love making needle felted bears from carded but unspun wool.  These bears are very time consuming, but it is fascinating, making bears in this manner.  Made from the same wool used to make the thread for my original ThReAdTeDs®, these little bears are also very proud to wear the name, ThReAdTeDs®.

In 2003/2004 I introduce the" Original cRoFeLt™ Bears",  ThReAdTeDs® made with "cRoFeLt".  "cRo" stands for crocheting,  "FeLt" stands for felting (needle felting).  I 've loved making bears using both techniques , and after much trial and error, I've developed a contemporary way to combine both of these two skills into one bear; the" Original cRoFeLt™" bears.

Madrid System for the International Registration of Mark

The Madrid system for the international registration of marks (the Madrid system) established in 1891 functions under the Madrid Agreement (1891), and the Madrid Protocol (1989). It is administered by the International Bureau of WIPO located in Geneva, Switzerland.

Thanks to the international procedural mechanism, the Madrid system offers a trademark owner the possibility to have his trademark protected in several countries (Members of the Madrid Union) by simply filing one application directly with his own national or regional trademark office. An international mark so registered is equivalent to an application or a registration of the same mark effected directly in each of the countries designated by the applicant. If the trademark office of a designated country does not refuse protection within a specified period, the protection of the mark is the same as if it had been registered by that Office.

The Madrid system also simplifies greatly the subsequent management of the mark, since it is possible to record subsequent changes or to renew the registration through a single procedural step. Further countries may be designated subsequently.
